Safety measures practiced at Veazie Veterinary Clinic include a complete exam, pre-operative blood work and the placement of an IV catheter. Veazie Veterinary Clinic also conducts many procedures using laser surgery. This decreases pain, bruising and healing time for the patient. Dr. Cloutier has a special interest in orthopedic surgeries. We regularly accept referrals from local veterinarians, across Maine and even into neighboring states and Canada.
When we perform an orthopedic surgery, we follow our anesthesia safety protocol. A technician scrubs in to assist Dr. Cloutier with the surgery. Another technician is solely focused on the condition of the pet having surgery, monitoring vitals signs and adjusting anesthesia as needed. Your pet has a lot of company in the surgery suite when undergoing major surgery.
Abdominal and soft tissue surgeries are regularly performed at Veazie Veterinary Clinic. All three veterinarians contribute their own specialized knowledge and training to these various types of surgery. The procedures range from a quick lump removal to more lengthy procedures, including:
Sometimes when we recieve the news that our pet has life threatening heart or lung disease, we think that there is no treatment option. Dr. Cloutier, however, is experienced in life saving procedures that may enable your pet to live a normal quality life. These procedures, not commonly performed elsewhere, include:
Pericardectomy
Lung Lobe Removal
PDA Surgery
