In case of severe anemia or major blood loss it is a great advantage to have a constant blood supply available. We have both canine and feline blood in clinic or within easy reach at all times. Most of our donor animals belong to our doctors and employees who use their own pets. A few other donor animals belong to clients of the hospital who volunteer.
We would like to thank our many wonderful donors. Our clients, whose pets have been saved by receiving these transfusions, join us in sending our thanks out to our generous staff, clients and their donating pets! Here at Veazie Veterinary Clinic we strive to provide the most updated emergency medical care possible in a caring and compassionate way during business hours. We are happy to be affiliated with the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic. The Emergency Clinic is a cooperative emergency clinic formed by local veterinarians to ensure prompt, conscientious emergency care for their patients after hours and on weekends and holidays. Should you need assistance during these times please contact them at 989-6267.
The Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic is located at 15 Dirigo Dr, Brewer, Maine.
If you suspect your pet has ingested a toxin, a plant or other substance a pet should not usually ingest, please call the Animal Poison Control Center so they may advise on the action you and the veterinarian should take to keep your pet healthy.

There is a $65 consultation fee for the service, so please have a credit card ready. This fee also covers any follow up calls that the veterinarian may make to sucessfully treat your pet.
For patients requiring close monitoring and attention, Veazie Veterinary Clinic has an intesive care unit. Critical care patients are placed in kennels that are in full view of our treatment area so they are under constant supervision. We have three built in kennels, 2 medium sized and 1 large, as well as a portable small incubator/oxygen tank for cats and smaller dogs.
A common set up for patients in the ICU includes a warm water heating pad, and blankets to make the kennel as comfortable as possible. In cases where fluids are being given there is an infusion pump to deliver them at a set rate. Other equipment or medical care is available as needed. The ICU can be used for a variety of cases from an emergency that needs close observation to a patient who is recovering from anesthesia that requires special care.
We provide these services to help our clients in a very difficult time. If you ever need to talk we are happy to listen. We all understand the pain that comes with saying good bye. Here at Veazie Veterinary Clinic we strive to support owners with compassion and make your expirence as trouble free as possible. For more advice about how to handle grief...
For our clients whose pets have passed away we offer a catalogue of urns and other pet remembrance products that we can order for them. Kelco offers stone, metal, wood and plastic products to suit many tastes and styles, many are engravable. Please ask for a catalogue if you are in need.
We also arrange for crematory services. We can provide private cremations if requested. If private cremation is desired, pets are usually back with us in about 1 week.
