The Veazie Veterinary Clinic doctors and staff pride themselves on offering compassionate, progressive and state-of-the-art veterinary care in a professional and caring environment.
Our staff works together as a team to provide you and your pet with the care you expect. We treat our clients like family, and our patients as if they were our own pets.
We strive to provide the most updated medical care possible in a caring and compassionate way. We believe in treating the whole animal and providing the best preventative care possible through:
Here at Veazie Veterinary Clinic we value our feline patients and recognize that they have different needs than their canine counterparts. To meet these needs we try to provide separate, quiet and lower stress feline facilities. Additionally, Dr. Michael McCaw has a special interest in feline care and has focused much of his continuing education on medicine unique to cats.
Veazie Veterinary Clinic owner Dr. David Cloutier has a special interest in cardiac medicine.
Over the past several years he has participated in a variety of continuing education subjects and veterinary conferences, from cardiology to small animal ultrasound. This enables us to provide our clients with comprehensive cardiac work-ups, as well as referrals from other practices across Maine, New Brunkswick (NB), and New England. |
Cardiac Ultrasound (echocardiogram):
Dr. Cloutier provides both in-house and referral cardiac ultrasound services, enabling the diagnosis of a range of cardiac diseases.
Abdominal Ultrasound:
Dr. McCaw provides in-house and referral abdominal ultrasound procedures. He helps to identify gastrointestinal diseases, cancers, and endocrine diseases, enabling us to plan the best way to treat your pet.
Digital Radiographs:
Radiology is a critical part of any veterinary clinic. We have well-trained staff and very good equipment to take the best radiograph on the first try.
Digital Dental Radiographs:
Digital dental radiography allows us to take radiographs of a pet's teeth in less time than traditional x-rays. This allows us to perform a whole-mouth exam without increasing the time under anesthesia.
Penn Hip & OFA Radiographs:
Dr. Cloutier is certified to perform Penn Hip radiographs for evaluation of hip dysplasia. All of our doctors can perform OFA radiographs for screening for hip and elbow dysplasia.
Our veterinarians provide a wide range of surgical services from routine spays to complicated cardiac surgery. We practice the highest level of anesthesia safety regardless of the surgery, including careful monitoring and pre- and post-operative care.

Thoracic Surgeries:
Veazie Veterinary Clinic offers a wide range of ophthalmic services to ensure that your pet's eyes are in good health. Many diagnostic procedures can be run in-house, saving time from diagnosis to treatment.
We utilize many diagnostics services to help provide the best care for your pet, such as:
Telemedicine: quick, expert opinions on radiographs
In-House Laboratory: bloodwork, ear & skin cytology, urinalysis, & semen evaluation
Laboratory Services: overnight samples to Idexx, Antech, MSU, Cornell, and more
Allergy Testing: another way to help itchy dogs
Dental care is critical to a pet's health. Dental disease can contribute to other diseases, and lower a pet's quality of life. We can help with a variety of preventative care techniques and treatments:
Dental Cleaning and Polishing: While your pet is under general anesthesia, our licensed Veterinary Technicians scale the tartar build-up, clean under the gumline and polish your pet's teeth.
Extractions: Retained baby teeth, and broken or infected teeth can be removed under anesthesia to prevent pain and further infection.
Root Canal & Vital Pulpotomy: These are options to repair a recently-broken tooth to save an extraction.
Digital Dental Radiographs: Routine full-mouth radiographs help us to determine your pet's total dental health.
At Veazie Veterinary Clinic we understand that skin conditions can be very uncomfortable for you and your pet. We offer in-house diagnostic services that quickly identify the cause of itchy, dry, and irritated skin. These include:
Behavior Consultations: anxiety, aggressiveness, and other behavior concerns for both cats and dogs
Nutritional Counseling: personalized weight loss and nutrition for your pet
Rehabilitation: post-operative, arthritic, and senior dog mobility and pain management
Canine Reproduction: semen evaluation, timing breeding, pregnancy tests, and caesarian sections
Oncology/Chemotherapy: staging, consultations, and individualized treatments to maintain quality of life
Pharmacy: In-house and online prescriptions
Emergency Care: Emergencies are accepted during all business hours. When we are not open, you can take your pet to Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Brewer.
Intensive Care: Critical patients stay in the main treatment area for close monitoring and care. Families are able to visit as well.
Blood Bank: Blood donations and transfusions are preformed in-house. Ask us if your dog is eligible to become a blood donor!
Chemotherapy/Oncology: Complete cancer care is tailored to you and your pet.
Canine Reproduction: Semen freezing is performed in-house, and samples are stored in a secured facility in Colorado. Surgical inseminations are also available.
